nyårssak sitting with a warm risvärmare around his neck and trying to cure a bad headache. would do as everyone else in the meantime and make a New Year's list:
first 2008 was a good year? on the whole, yes. first half was kind of OK, but the second half rocked.
second year's best events? met elli, proposed to elli, shivers when Leonard Cohen kicked off "Everybody Knows" on Sofiero, finished my education, ultimately obtained an apartment in the grove.
third the year's worst events? that I was constantly sick months from October to November, difficult relationship with things, that I got my PhD student.
4th any new children in the circle of acquaintances? well, two actually. sofie & david got Vidar and my sister had daughter number two, tua.
5th plans for 2009? who knew it. I want to work, moving in with elli and feel good. otherwise I have nothing planned.
PhD place that did not turn off.
11th you were sick or injured you in 2008? heh, 2008 may have been the years I have been most ill ever. all the shit that you could run up I went also on me. flu, colds and the eternal migraine to name a few. damage? well, I broke my toe for the eighth time, I think.
12th best investment in 2008? food? I do not know, I have not been able to spend that much in 2008. I guess I can put my playstation 3, but I never had time to use it so much.
13th Whose behavior should be rewarded? ellis and niklas. my fruga and my best friend. that's what I need and they lift me up when I fall.
14th whose behavior is best to forget? my own for a few months. in retrospective, I was not very adult and responsible states.
15th what you spent the most money? food and travel, I think.
16th what did you really, really excited? leonardcohenlegacy Sofiero, elli (yes, I know I nag, but how do you evaluate the best which happened one?), Metal Gear Solid 4.
17th what song makes you think about 2008? a whole bunch actually. first half of the year it was "time to pretend" by mgmt, "Sunday Morning Coming Down" by Johnny Cash and "her father did not like me anyway" by Shane McGowan & the popes. second half of the year was the "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley, "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Will not do that)" by Meat Loaf, "i want to marry you" by Bruce Springsteen and "Bad Things" by Jace Everett.
18th compared with this time last year you:
happier? - definitely.
thinner? - Well, about the same.
richer? - roughly the same.
19th what would you have done more of? trained. my swim practice came off of and with the long period of illness last fall. should be taken up again in spring.
20th what would you have done less of? smoked, I guess. should really stop. or at least scale down significantly.
21st were you in love? say the least ...:)
22nd how many one-night stands? uhm ... three or four, depending on how you count.
23rd best TV shows? difficult, but since I made a list for a few weeks ago, I must say, "Dexter".
24th do you hate someone that you did not hate at this time last year? no, I do not hate. At most I get upset, sour or angry.
25th best book you read? read a lot last year so I've probably forgotten half. one which, however, made quite a big impression was "man port" by John Ajvide Lindqvist.
26th best new band you discovered? no idea actually. Tom Lehrer was spinning pretty healthy this summer and I had not heard of him before (I had taken over, but I did not know it was him) so I guess it must be him.
27th what did you want to beat? elli.
28th what did you want that you did not? PhD place, miscellaneous jobs.
29th Best Picture? matter of a few months when I had time to go through all of which premiered late last year. so far, however: "The Dark Knight" and "Let the Right One In."
30th what did you do on your birthday and how old did you? I turned 26, that much I know. what I did, I have no idea.
31st What would make your 2008 so much better? if I got to be healthy.
32nd how dressed you in 2008? black, black, black. towards the end of the year is also a bit 30's inspired, with the hat!
33rd what kept you sane? friends, Nuff said.
34th what was the big political question for you in 2008? hmm, the U.S. elections, fra-law and the housing situation in the grove.
35th who lacked you? interestingly, no. is it healthy?
36th you were mean to someone in 2008? I would say "no", but I am fully aware that not everyone would agree with me.
37th you were treated badly by someone? well, yeah, I would say. some things could be handled better.
38th best new person you met in 2008? surprise, surprise, elli!
39th a valuable lesson you learned in 2008? first do not let the bastards push you down (old-school lesson, but useful to repeat)
second I have pretty bad self-image, which I have to work on.
40th låtrad one that sums up your year? "When You Came in, the air went out." - Jace Everett, bad things.
